One of my favorite things about #hpmkt is discovering new companies that are producing #americanmade furniture. My favorites today were @bruceandrews_ (rocking and leather chairs) and @duvallandco who makes beautiful dining tables, but apparently I was so captivated by this door which they also made I forgot to take any table pictures.

Finally got into the New York Times cooking app (thanks @aliceoglethorpe ) and would recommend it if you need some new kitchen inspiration. Chocolate Chip banana bread is the first thing I made and it did not disappoint. I chose this recipe because I didn't want to mess with softening butter (you melt it) or with a mixer. Also, I baked this in my Breville toaster oven because my kitchen oven is circa 1982 and burns all baked goods.

I'm definitely noticing a move away from all grays towards warmer colors (dare I say beige??). We wanted to add some contrast with a darker throw pillow so grabbed some charcoal options but made sure there were brown or beige undertones.

Signs winter is coming to an end:
1. There is enough natural light at 6:00 p.m. that I can take a decent picture of my dinner. 2. I'm in the mood for a refreshing salad.I had some leftover fennel and tons of cara cara oranges so added some arugula and this is what happened. I am usually someone that doesn't get excited about a salad unless there's cheese on it, but I really don't miss it on this one. My simple citrus vinaigrette is:
Juice of one large orange
Juice of half a lemon
Approximately 1 tbsp chopped shallot
Squirt of Dijon
Drizzle of maple syrup or honey
Whisk together and add about 1/4 cup of olive oil (maybe a little more, I didn't measure I just poured). Taste and see what is good for you.
